This is my first time in the forum.
I appreciate any help you can give me.
I am using Dahua security IP cameras for a system.
These cameras record in .dav format encoding in H264.
I have converted with ffmpeg to .avi and .mp4. But many of the filming results in some loss of frames.
On the other hand I tried a proprietary application of dahua for windows and converts .dav to .avi, very fast and perfect.
From what I was reading in investigating the container, .dav is very similar to .avi.
For example, in a 1 minute video file, I found approximately 3000 differences of headers between .dav and .avi.
I contacted dahua from whom I am waiting for a conversion solution for linux.
Another alternative that we are evaluating is in implementing a converter us with some friends of mine.
The truth is that we have tried several cameras and with these dahua cameras we had very good results, so we would not like to change them for some that give us the video in some standard format.
In several forums and places on the internet we have seen that they use the ffmpeg to convert these videos in .dav but the result is not 100% perfect.
Does anyone have experience in recording video in .dav and converting to .avi?
Really really thanks for your time,
For the developers that use FFmpeg in their software.
