Creating solution/projects of ffmpeg for Visual studio 2013...

Post by Tarmik » Fri May 12, 2017 6:34 pm

Hi !

I'm in a middle of trying to port vlc to Android, and at the same time digging deeper into getting solutions / projects for Visual studio.
So I want to get rid of separate configure step as far as possible at least for Windows and Android platforms.

During my analysis I've discovered that vlc dragged ffmpeg's projects as dependent libraries, and also noticed that ffmpeg did not have solutions / projects defined at all. So it's possible to cross compile it using Visual studio compiler, but not possible to debug, also not easy to edit.

Well, I've altered my own command line tool (syncProj) to be able to reconstuct solution / project for Visual studio 2013 from make commands.

Initial instructions (for advanced developers) can be found from here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1C1Y ... l8pfvnfgmd

Solutions / projects: (Some ffmpeg version) - from here:
https://sourceforge.net/p/vlc2/code/HEA ... bs/ffmpeg/

Sample project which is used to configure Visual studio project can be found from here:
https://sourceforge.net/p/vlc2/code/HEA ... bavutil.cs

Just in case if anyone is interested.

Found one interesting issue - related to ffmpeg / Microsoft Visual C++ compiler - posted here:

https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forum ... vclanguage

Rather interesting issue, but only way to compile ffmpeg at the moment is to use optimizations.

Need more "me too" comments in that forum so this would reach C++ compiler developers. :D
