New Naming Style

I'm considering changing the naming system on the archives and wondering what some others thought of the idea.

I am considering adding the date to the naming system.

An example of the new naming system would read like this:
ffmpeg-20111222-git-f514695.tar.bz2

the date would go off of git log.

Here is another example:
ffmpeg-20111222-git-f514695-win64-static.7z

Please vote or add a post if you have another suggestion.

I personally like the idea of adding the date. Although that could be because I have no clue about git hashes... Anyway I cast my vote for adding it in.

P.S. Very cool that you are taking our opinion into account.

It is more logical write in order of importance.
As for me:
ffmpeg-20111222-win64-static-git-f514695.7z
PS. vote change (the second variant)

While I agree with the order of importants, I'm not sure the example you gave would be the best.

Both the git hash and the date are methods of versioning, so it wouldn't seem logical to me to put one at the front and one at the end.

Thats just me though, I'm pretty flexable.

Does anyone else have any thoughts for or against this idea?

I would add the date, but include delimiters: ffmpeg-2011-12-22-git-f514695-win64-static.7z. That's much easier on my tired old eyes.

Adding the date to the new naming style is good.
