HyperDeck compatible ProRes video format

Post by Pranjal » Mon Aug 08, 2016 1:58 pm

Hi Team,

Great to be here on the FFMPEG forum... finally.
Been using FFMPEG from a long time, but never registered because I always found it very easy to use....

Now, have run into a road block.

Been trying to encode ProRes video for playing on BlackMagic HyperDeck Studio and Shuttle.
Not successful.... only get audio output, no video, on HyperDeck Studio or Shuttle.
This is the commandline I am using...

ffmpeg -i input.mov -map 0 -map -0:d -hide_banner -v quiet -stats -vcodec prores_ks -profile:v 3 -profile:a 3 -qscale:v 11 -vendor ap10 -pix_fmt yuv422p10le -bufsize 1000k -threads 0 "output.mov"

Could anyone help me out on this?

Thanx in advance..

Pranjal

Hi,

Has anyone found a solution for this?
Or do I have to do the ProRes encoding in FCPX and then use it?
FCPX export to ProRes works fine...

Hi team,

Tried the following option, getting video output, but the video plays back choppy, audio is fine.

Code: Select all

ffmpeg -i input.mov -map 0 -map -0:d -hide_banner -vcodec prores_ks -vendor ap10 -r 25 -profile:v 3 -quant_mat standard -bits_per_mb 8000 -mbs_per_slice 8 -pix_fmt yuv422p10le -color_primaries bt470bg -color_trc bt709 -colorspace bt470bg -flags +ildct+ilme -top 1 -b:v 30000k -minrate 30000k -bufsize 30000k -maxrate 30000k -acodec pcm_s24le -ac 2 -ar 48000 -threads 0 "output.mov"
Could anyone redirect me to the solution for this?

Thanx.

Hi,

Is it possible to change the "Writing Library" to something else, longer than 4 characters.

As per MediaInfo, the FCPX ProRes output stores the value as "Apple QuickTime" in the General options,
and as "Apple" in the video options.

My command given earlier had "Lavf57.32.100" for the Writing Library in the General option, and as "ap10" in the video option.

FFMPEG doesn't allow more than 4 characters.

Have a feeling, that is the reason why the file won't play in the Hyperdeck.....

Since there has been no replies.....guess this is not possible with the current build of FFMPEG....

Request the forum moderator to kindly close this topic.

Thanx.

no idea, possibly ask on ffmpeg-user mailing list (since it is a generic encoding question)

For those who's interested:
vendor is NOT ap10, but apl0 (lowercase APL0)
as for codec, one way to trick it is to set AVCodec->name = "Apple ProRes 422 (HQ)"
where HQ also can be LT or Proxy
