UTVideo, Force 4:2:2 709 version (ULH2)?

Post by cjplay » Mon Jul 08, 2013 4:55 pm

I have the 07/03 build of FFMPEG on Windows from this site. The FFMPEG files list support was added for the BT.709 version of UTVideo lossless compression. I am feeding the command a UYVY uncompressed AVI file as I do not have an HDYC file. I am in the middle of trying the color transfer characteristics to see if that helps since vtag has failed thus far. If it does, I will report back.

Output desired - ULH2-encoded AVI file.

Why? My special encoder requires an HDYC-pixel type for the SDI output and only UT video is the compressed codec that can provide it at the video quality I need.

Thank you for any help.

That support is for decoding only. The commit messages said as much.

Ah. Crap... Thanks for the note. I didn't see the commit message.

I'm trying Mencoder tomorrow, then, using STDOut of FFMPEG since now I need J2K MXF and ProResHQ support.

Thanks again,
Chris.

Circling back. It works as of this post using "utvideo" as the codec and -colorspace 1 (1=MPEG's BT.709 indicator). I used Rogerdpack's helper script to make the executable on 2/24/2015 and so far so good.

"-pix_fmt yuv422p -codec:v utvideo -colorspace 1" is the important part of the command after the input is declared.

Also thanks to Roger for the openjpeg 1.5.2 update!
