I dont understand what you are getting at here. Why do *you* need a patch?
Unless you have commit rights or want to take credit for the patch I dont see
the point.
I was just offering to forward it on to ffmpeg-devel for you and "vouch for it/pitch it" as it were. By all means feel free to send it on yourself if you'd like, I was just trying to provide a helping hand since I'm already subscribed to the list and have some (if minimal) relationship there.

Did you even read the thread
yes and this is my point - if you go to ETSI TS 102 366 on page 77 there is chapter with Dolby equation and coefficient values, as Dolby have at least two types of downmixing (Lo/Ro and Lt/Rt) then perhaps it is wise to follow standard instead create nonstandard solutions - if you have at input channels that are using full scale digital (i.e. up to 0dBFS) then it can be the issue.

Has ffmepg fixed their defaults or does one still need to use audio filter to not get too quiet dialogue?

Why not downmix with sofalizer? Works very neatly. (thx richardpl).

Code: Select all

@set "aformat=channel_layouts=7.1,aresample=resampler=soxr:osr=48000:cutoff=0.99:dither_method=0,sofalizer=sofa=dodeca_and_7channel_3DSL_HRTF.sofa:gain=11:lfegain=9"
