Converting video with third party codec

Post by smills » Mon Oct 03, 2016 7:23 pm

I have an AVI file that uses a custom codec in windows media player for playback. I need to be able to convert this video in order to play it over the web. I have the codec installed, but ffmpeg keeps throwing the following error:

[avi @ 0000000001bd24a0] Could not find codec parameters for stream 0 (Video: none (RFBW / 0x57424652), none, 3360x1080): unknown codec
Consider increasing the value for the 'analyzeduration' and 'probesize' options

The mention of RFB is the name of the codec, which according to windows media player; it uses a .ax file for it's binary.

Please provide a sample input file. What can play the file normally? What created the file?
