Re: af pan returns empty/silent wav

I still can't duplicate the issue (but I never tried your exact version). Works for me. Plays fine in ffplay and aplay (on Linux). Update your ffmpeg. $ ./ffmpeg -y -i ../ChID-BLITS-EBU-Narration.mp4 -c:a pcm_s32le -af "pan=2c|FL<0.6*FL+0.8*FC+0.7*SL+-0.65*SR+0.7*BL+-0.65*BR|FR<0.6*FR+0.8*FC+-0.65*S...

Re: Have to Add 3 or more audio to a video file

You can generate and add silent audio in one command: ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -f lavfi -i anullsrc=channel_layout=stereo:sample_rate=44100 -map 0:v -map 1:a -c:v copy -shortest output.mp4 I dubbed the Audio at various locations and have multiple audio files say audio1.wav, audio2.wav....audion.wav, whos...

Re: Motherboards and codecs

Perhaps if they are using Broadcom Crystal HD for hardware based decoding of msmpeg4 the swich could possibly be an issue somehow or another. Not much info to work with, so who knows.

For software based decoding, no.

Re: af pan returns empty/silent wav

Works for me, but I don't have your input: $ ./ffmpeg -i 5.1.wav -c:a pcm_s32le -af "pan=2c|FL<0.6*FL+0.8*FC+0.7*SL+-0.65*SR+0.7*BL+-0.65*BR|FR<0.6*FR+0.8*FC+-0.65*SL+0.7*SR+0.7*BR+-0.65*BL" out.wav ffmpeg version N-82119-g1342339 Copyright (c) 2000-2016 the FFmpeg developers built with gcc 6.2.1 (G...

Re: Specifying a track to extract by metadata

I doubt your input has any "channel" metadata (one reason why you should always include your actual command and the complete console output from your command). You may have to script this by using ffprobe to determine stream index, language, and channels/channel_layout. ffprobe -v error -show_entrie...

What is wrong with using "-ac 2"? Which 6 channels do you want downmixed to stereo?

The [48] and [49] are the reference numbers in the article. One of them points to:

Installing this will likely do the job (I am unable to try it myself now).

Re: Should I pay licence fees for encoding in H.264 ?

You shouldn't base your legal decisions on what random users on a forum say. Consider consulting with a lawyer knowledgeable in this area.
