Re: AAC VBR 32 kbps from MP4, possibly 2 pass

A bitrate of 32k is the lowest usable value for an AAC 2 channel mix. Changing to 64k will improve the quality. Or if you really need 32k AAC, try reducing the audio channels to 1 (mono). See examples below. The output depends on the quality of the source audio. The audio you posted uses variable bi...

Re: AAC VBR 32 kbps from MP4, possibly 2 pass

change "input.mkv" to "input.mp4" or even "input.mov" or "input.flv". All of them often contain h264 (or hevc) video and since the audio is transcoded, it doesn't matter what the original audio format was.

Re: Intel Quicksync and Nvidia Nvenc Together

If one is audio and one is video then probably no. But your 6700k can likely encode an audio stream near 75x (even though the aac encoder is mostly single threaded) so I'm not sure you would benefit from, say, an audio quicksync encoder. Zeranoe's ffmpeg encoders only list hardware encoder libraries...

Re: AAC VBR 32 kbps from MP4, possibly 2 pass

Referencing the docs: https://ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg-codecs.html#aac The closest two pass option is the twoloop option of aac_coder. The -cutoff 0 option to me sounded better at this low bitrate on movie/tv audio tracks. -cutoff 0 sets it to a dynamic cutoff. It also sounded better with the twoloop optio...

Re: help with hevc_qsv

I think your main problem is the choice of media output container. You put "got2.avi" as output. The AVI container does not support hevc. Use got2.mkv using the Matroska format instead. Also make sure your cpu/gpu supports hevc qsv hardware encode and that you have the latest intel graphics drivers ...

Re: Convert DTS to Opus

Hi. Nothing is really wrong with your transcoding. A quick look at the help option of ffmpeg: ffmpeg -h encoder=libopus yields: Encoder libopus [libopus Opus]: General capabilities: delay small Threading capabilities: none Supported sample rates: 48000 24000 16000 12000 8000 Supported sample formats...

Re: Problem with file paths using lavfi filter

I found a solution. I wasn't using enough escape slashes. At least 3 characters and maybe others need to be escaped with 3 backslashes. The colon, the backslash and the apostrophe : -> \\\: \ -> \\\\ ' -> \\\' BUT a comma is escaped with only 1 backslash , -> \, Sample line (won't work) ffmpeg.exe -...

This is a basic PowerShell script do batch converts as requested: Param( [string]$inputDir = "C:\CONVERT", [string]$outputDir = "C:\RECODED" ) foreach ($iFile in Get-ChildItem -Path $inputDir -File) { $i = Join-Path $inputDir -ChildPath $ifile $o = Join-Path $outputDir -ChildPath ([io.path]::GetFile...

Re: encode mp4 file to TS file

Hi. I found this web page which explains in detail how to use ffmpeg to transcode and output to a transport stream : http://www.tannet.org.uk/using-ffmpeg-to-generate-a-transport-stream-more-details-and-how-to-add-text-overlays/ To meet the low bitrate of 240k you will have to set the nominal, min a...

Problem with file paths using lavfi filter

Hi. on windows 10 x64 command window. using Zeranoe static ffmpeg 64 builds from version N-93506-g27c94c57dc (190331) and N-93649-gd0ca749adb (190424). I am trying to extract Closed Captions EIA-608 from a video stream. This works: ffmpeg.exe -f lavfi -i movie="input.mkv"[out0+subcc] -map s output.s...
