Re: Trying to mute all 5.1 channels of audio for a period of time within a video

Issue is that every audio track is converted from for example mono or stereo channel layout to 5.1 channel layout, also audio bitrate may be too high (stereo 128 .. 192kbps converted to 5.1 448kbps) and this was my point - script should be able dynamically recognize channel layout and not convert fr...

Re: AAC clipping

You should get familiar with those two very interesting papers: 0dBFS+ levels in digital mastering https://toneprints.com/media/1018207/nielsen_lund_2000_0dbfs_le.pdf Level and distortions in digital broadcasting https://tech.ebu.ch/docs/techreview/trev_310-lund.pdf normalizing to -3.0103dBFS should...

Re: Trying to mute all 5.1 channels of audio for a period of time within a video

Looking at what pandy sent originally, I was able to figure out how to make it work to mute BOTH audio streams (5.1 and stereo). The linux code below mutes the first 15 seconds. Thanks again pandy for pointing me in the right direction. Sorry for late reply - very important things required my atten...

Re: Composite 2 videos using an external mask

Provided feedback on videohelp. You may wish to use different approach as seem alpha in ffmpeg is not so obvious. repeating same example: @ffmpeg.exe -hide_banner -v 32 -stats -strict -1 -i %filename% -an -filter_complex "[0:v]scale=773:439:sws_flags=spline+accurate_rnd+full_chroma_int+full_chroma_i...

Re: Trying to mute all 5.1 channels of audio for a period of time within a video

Sorry for late reply, was busy. I don't know how to made ffmpeg script where ffmpeg will be aware of content in your stream then create necessary signal flow. It may be possible but accordingly to my knowledge not automatically - probably stream need to be analysed (ffprobe as natural choice) then r...

Re: Trying to mute all 5.1 channels of audio for a period of time within a video

First, thank you so much for responding pandy! I ran your code. Although it generated a file with 5.1 channel audio in place, it didn't mute the selected portion (i.e. 0-3 seconds). Below is the executed command and the results. I had to slightly adapt what you provided since I'm running ffmpeg (ve...

Re: Trying to mute all 5.1 channels of audio for a period of time within a video

Try to extend your filter (signal) path by explicitly use 5.1 channel layout at the input, adjust level, output 5.1 channel layout and most important use audio codec capable to support 5.1 channel layout - quite important - you not use audio codec just relay on default settings used by ffmpeg for MO...

Re: Fading with HEVC x265

incorrect syntax '-f mp4' is used to select MP4 container not codec - to select codec you need use '-c:v libx265'

Code: Select all

ffmpeg -i "source.mp4" -filter_complex "[0:v]fade=t=out:st=199:d=3[v]; [0:a]afade=t=out:st=199:d=3[a]" -map "[v]" -map "[a]" -c:v libx265 -f mp4 "target.mp4"
