Enceded Video Not playing Properly!

Postby zakirSZH » Fri Mar 08, 2013 5:01 am

Greetings everyone on this forum..
i m facing a wired issue..
i m trying to encode mp4 file from a avi and mp3 file with high quality. I get the CLI (command line) parameters from winFF (windows GUI for ffmpeg) and using it.
but the problem is encoded video does not play on most player (like jetaudio, windows media player) only audio plays. But it only plays ok on vlc player

please download the file from the following link:
http://www.siamcomputer-bd.com/download ... _error.zip

in the zip file the main video (avi) file is compressed with 7z as the video is too big 131mb but after 7z compress it is only 1mb.

so, you need 7z or winRar 4+ version to extract that 7z file..

it would be great if anyone kindly help me out

thanks again in advance to all active users
best regards

Indeed sample.mp4 plays
OK with SMPlayer 0.8.x & VLC 2.0.5
only plays audio with windows media player

I'm preparing to file 3 other bugs to ffmpeg in related matters, I already reported 4 of which 2 are still not fixed.
Aka viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1031
And https://ffmpeg.org/trac/ffmpeg/ticket/2289

Haven't time to further test your, but:

I think if you cut the INPUT video & audio both in lenght & quality you'll see the same, issue, and it will be easier for bug reporting.

For you to test
1/ You encode to aac, I have many issues with aac, give a try with mp3
2/ Test as well mkv as container instead of mp4.
3/ encode video in mpeg4 instead of libx264, which also gives issues

thanks a lot for your reply..

however my main purpose is to create 3 different quality video (MP4 file) with the source video and audio
1. Best quality
2. Medium Quality
3. Normal/Average/low quality

format must be mp4 and aac

so, it would be great if you can provide me better CLI that works on all player?

i hope i m clear sir?

thanks again for your kind reply
best regards

As is you won't because FFmpeg do show bugs, so I propose that you narrow it down to submit this.

I briefly looked at it:

First
You input audio source appears corrupted to FFmpeg, indeed
Code: Select all
ffmpeg -i Kalimba.mp3 cvtKalimba.mp3

But not to LAME 3.99.5
Code: Select all
lame.exe Kalimba.mp3 KalimbaViaLame.mp3 -q 0 --abr 160

Second according to the fact you choose different output container, namely avi, mp4 or mkv you've got different results !

Now if I just copy all input streams to an out1.avi and then copy all streams of out1.avi to out2.avi; out2.avi works with all players VLC, SMplayer & WMP, while out1.avi does not with SMPlayer

so, it would be great if you can provide me better CLI that works on all player?

Not very much time now for, that make some time to test so that it can be fixed, try to narrow it down yourself, I'll look at time when i can

if it's h264 make sure it's something like yuv420p some can't play yuv444p (ffmpeg's default...)
