This website is a complete resource for finding information about FFmpeg on Windows. As defined by ffmpeg.org "FFmpeg is a complete, cross-platform solution to record, convert and stream audio and video."
In simple terms FFmpeg can be used for a diverse number of projects, from converting a video to work on an MP3 player, to designing an entire application around its API.
To get started with FFmpeg, head over to the "builds" page and download the build that you prefer. Then extract the downloaded archive's contents and read the documentation found within the "doc" folder.
To use FFmpeg you will need to open up the Command Prompt, and change to the "bin" directory of the build. A shortcut for this can be done on Windows 7 and Windows 8, simply navigate to the "bin" folder and shift+rightclick within the folder's blank area, then select "Open command window here".
To see a full list of FFmpeg's options, run:
from within the bin directory.
